Riverway Gallery
The Riverway Gallery can be reached by car, however to fully capture
the true experience we suggest that you park your car on Mansfield
Drive off of Cliffe Avenue, and enjoy a short leisurely stroll
south along the Courtenay Riverway.
Against a backdrop of breathtaking
views, an ever- changing scene of tide lines, ocean vistas, and
warm summer breezes evolve throughout the year into scenes of
rolling snow capped mountains and cool winter gales. The water
and sky host a vast array of bird life that includes soaring
eagles, seasonal trumpeter swans, herons, sandpipers, mallards,
and gulls as well as curious otters and marine life. Once you’ve experienced some of the beauty and inspiration
that the Comox Valley has to offer, you’ll have even more
appreciation for the inspirations of the artists, featured in the
Riverway Gallery.
On your walk, the gallery
is hard to miss. You’ll be captivated
by the sandblasted glass deck panels which have been customized
and perfectly detailed to compliment the surrounding landscape.
Once inside the Riverway
Gallery you’ll be surrounded by
the soothing sounds of local music and the exceptional art work
of over 30 Vancouver Island artists. These works of art are perfectly
displayed amongst driftwood, river rock and other coastal features,
which combine to create a warm and colorful west coast atmosphere.
Attention to detail and
quality workmanship are evident throughout the Riverway Gallery.
The highly detailed water colours of wildlife painter Judi Wild
are perfectly enshrined in old growth fir frames. Custom sandblasted
glass designs are meticulously handcrafted by Crawford Studios.
Whether you’re looking for
a small gift from the west coast, an addition to your personal
collection, or a large scale art commission or installation,
the Riverway Gallery has something for everyone.
To make your trip to the
Riverway Gallery complete, be sure to visit the adjacent studio
of glass artist Paul Crawford. There you can view current commissions
in sandblasted glass, his works in progress, or perhaps commission
your own piece of custom designed sandblasted art. Whatever your
reason for visiting the Riverway Gallery you will take with you
a true West Coast experience as well as the thrill of discovering
one of the Comox Valley’s
hidden treasures.
